First, I am not a doctor or dietician, this is not medical advice, I am only telling you what I did and how it affected my health.
This was not my first doctors visit ever, but this was the first time that I didn’t blindly try to do what they said. When you get older and go to the doctor, they end up saying something like this. “Well, you have gotten to that age.” Then they say something like diet and exercise. Blah Blah Blah. They don’t tell you a diet to follow except maybe eat more vegetables and eat less sugar. It doesn’t have to be that way. You can take back control of your health. Here’s my story.
My arthritis had gotten really bad, making it tough to use my hands doing anything. So, I went to the doctor, and all they suggested was Tylenol, ibuprofen, or turmeric. As I had already tried these things to no avail. I couldn’t believe that was the only solution, so I went home, searched the internet and found an arthritis website, and found out that “sugar causes inflammation and inflammation causes arthritis.”
After learning this, I decided to cut out all carbs—no sugar, flour, corn, wheat, soy, or rice. Surprisingly, within a month, the pain in my hands, back and knees got better. I thought it was amazing and wondered why my doctor hadn’t told me about this. When I went back to my usual diet though, the arthritis came back. So, I started reducing my carb intake consciously, and that helped. But whenever I ate too many carbs for too long, the pain returned.
I decided to limit carbs every day to keep the arthritis at bay, though I still ate them regularly. Along the way, I noticed other good things happening. My blood pressure dropped, and I stopped taking blood pressure medicine. Chronic sinus infections went away, tingling in my feet disappeared, and even my acne improved. A cyst on my thumb that had come back after surgical removal completely vanished. I didn’t need Rolaids anymore, which had been a must have all the time. A sinus polyp that a doctor said needed surgery disappeared, along with skin tags and a list of other positive outcomes.
So, cutting out carbs did a lot of good things for me. I didn’t think such a simple change could make such a big difference. I felt better, had more energy, and life, in general, was getting better. Fast forward a couple of years, and I got diagnosed with cancer on April 6th, 2022. During those years, I had gone back and forth eating carbs. That’s when I started researching more about my health, and boy, have I learned a lot. So down the “Rabbit Hole” I went.
